Peruvian gymnast of the best calibre in the past, Ariana Gabriela Orrego Martinez (born September 25 in Lima). She will be the first Peruvian gymnast to compete at the Olympics, having qualified for Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and Tokyo in 2021.
As a Peruvian athlete, she has taken part in international competitions like the World Championships and the Pan American Games. In the fall of 2017, she started competing on the university level for Iowa State University in the United States.
A. Orrego Career
At the 2014 World Cup in Medellin, Colombia, Orrego made her senior national team debut on uneven bars, finishing in eighth place.
At the World Cup in Osijek the following year, she finished in fourth and sixth place on bars and beam, respectively, but she did not advance to the event finals in Varna. In the summer, she participated in the Pan American Games in Canada, where she ended up thirteenth in the all-around competition.
As a follow-up, she went to Scotland to take part in the World Championships, where she ultimately came up short. Orrego began the year 2016 with the Cottbus World Cup, where he ultimately placed in the top eight. She attended the Olympic Trials in Brazil in April.
They sent her to the Olympics as an individual after she finished 48th in the all-around. She went to the Anadia World Cup in late June, but she didn’t place high enough to advance to the championship round.
A. Orrego Olympic Games Tokyo 2020
The COVID-19 outbreak caused Orrego to miss the 2020 season. She took a year off from competition but came back strong at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. She was in the third group, and her event was vault.
She finished the competition in the all-around in the disappointing position of seventy-fourth, thereby preventing her from competing in the individual events.
